Just finished CollegeWeek Live...

I walked in not knowing what I was getting myself into! All in all it was fun, I'm a bit awkward and clumsy when it comes to things of that nature but I hope I was able to help everyone.
Most of the questions were respectful and related, which I'm happy to see- definitely gave me some ideas for future bloggings. =)

  1. Hey Ashley,
I was watching your post on CollegeWeek Live but unfortunately I was not able to watch it live so I couldn't ask any questions. I know that there was a question about partying and whether Miami was a party school. This was honestly one of my biggest concerns about Miami, because while I am definitely not anti-social, I am not the biggest party person either. I like being involved in a lot of activities, but my main focus is my academics. I was wondering if there is some sense of academia on campus and if there is a significant population of students like me who are focused mainly on their studies.

  2. There is definitely a strong sense of academia on campus, which is often reinforced by many of the activities available to students. There are still a plethora of things to become involved with if you're not a huge fan of partying- political groups, human rights activities, leadership summits, volunteer events, etc. Although some students would rather party on Friday and sleep through Saturday, I've come to feel that nearly everyone here is focused on their studies. I won't sugar coat it- there are a select few who take advantage of the fact that mommy and daddy are paying for this experience, so they don't have to worry about keeping up their GPA in order to retain scholarships. The majority of us, however, not only realize that we need to work hard in order to stay here, but are passionate about what we're studying- making it much easier to pull all nighters to get the job done.

    Hope this helps! =)
